Avnet Memec Showcases Silicon and Solutions for Smarter Energy, Industry, and End-user Technology at Embedded World 2012
Avnet Memec is committing its booth at embedded world 2012 to demonstrating new solutions for smart innovation from the world’s best semiconductor companies. The booth, no. 122 in hall 4A, will contain three key presentation areas, including multi-supplier technology-focused demonstrations, a focus area dedicated to suppliers PLX Technology, Marvell, Intersil and Echelon, plus the dedicated "Maxim Tech Lounge". Visitors will also have the chance to meet product experts from those manufacturers on the Avnet Memec booth.
Dedicated Supplier Demostations
- PLX Technology will have one of the four supplier-focus stations, in which visitors will witness the large range of PCI Express® silicon including Gen 2 and Gen 3 switches, as well as USB3.0 and 10Gb Ethernet devices, backed up by experienced technical support from the distributor.
- Marvell will use the opportunity to showcase its latest ARM processing solutions including multi-core devices and GHz-class processors, as well as audio/video bridging, multi-port 10Gb Ethernet transceivers and switches, and high-speed/high-density storage controllers, as well as dedicated power-management devices.
- Intersil will bring to Nuremberg its most advanced and accurate signal-chain ICs supporting high-accuracy conversion, or integrated video, plus solutions for power management and embedded power.
- In the Echelon focus area, visitors will be able to witness devices and systems interoperating seamlessly to support smarter building services or utilities such as street lighting and solar-power generators.
Maxim Tech Lounge
Avnet Memec presents the Maxim Tech Lounge on its booth, a dedicated area where Maxim is showcasing several demonstrations, focusing on green power, energy management and the signal chain. Highlights are powerline communications for noisy industrial environments and a space-saving 10W H-bridge transformer driver for isolated power supply designs. Power management ICs will also be presented, including the industry’s first PMIC optimised to save system integration time for smart meters and industrial control devices, and the industry’s lowest-power PMC, which is capable of harvesting energy from sources as low as 1µW.
Innovative devices for the signal chain, on display in the booth’s Maxim Tech Lounge, will include the SHA-256 for security protection of IP in embedded designs, as well as the industry's smallest, full-featured solution supporting connectivity with sensors and actuators using the efficient and future-oriented IO-Link protocol.
Technology-focused Demostations
Avnet Memec’s technology demostations will concentrate on four strategic disciplines: analog and power, industrial communications, embedded processors and microcontrollers, and wireless technology.
- The analog and power demonstrations will focus on solutions driving up accuracy and efficiency, including advanced conversion devices such as Semtech’s SX8723 precision zooming ADC, as well as Cirrus Logic’s CS5484 integrated smart metering IC with on-chip energy-measurement capability. Furthermore, Digital Isolation ICs from 1-6 Channels up to 150 Mbps and up to 5 kV Isolation from Silicon Labs will be displayed.
- As industrial communication increasingly rely on real-time performance rich data underpinning advanced products and services, Avnet Memec is also showing in-depth support for real-time Ethernet (IEEE 1588) products from Renesas Electronics and SMSC and high-bandwidth fibre-optic transceivers from Finisar. Power over Ethernet (PoE) solutions from Microsemi are shown as a complementary technology.
- Energy-friendly ARM® Cortex™-M3/M0 microcontrollers from Energy Micro, and Renesas’ huge portfolio such as the V850 and RL78 series will form a major part of the embedded processing focus area. Visitors will also be able to see the latest fruits of Avnet Memec’s distribution partnerships with companies such as Silicon Laboratories and Energy Micro delivering ultra-low power consumption and connectivity-gateway capabilities by integrating Ethernet, USB and CAN functionality in a single 8-bit microcontroller device. Many other advanced solutions for embedded processing, such as Silicon Laboratires’ lowest-power metering microcontroller, and a Cortex-M3 System-on-Chip FPGA with analogue functions, from Microsemi, will also be discoverable at the booth.
- Championing new modular wireless products and reference designs from key suppliers, the booth will also feature demonstrations of Plug & Play GSM- and UMTS-Modems (2G, 3G, 3G+, LTE ) for M2M or Tracking Applications from Sierra Wireless as well as modules from APMCOMM and Wi2Wi supporting IEEE 802.11 wireless protocols including IEEE 801.11n. Various ISM Band solutions from Energy Micro, Semtech and Silicon Labs will be another showcase focus.
Avnet Memec will be showcasing its advanced solutions for embedded applications, working with further supplier partners: Allegro, APM Communication, Applied Micro, Cirrus, Coilcraft, e2V, Energy Micro, Finisar, Greenliant, GSI, Ipdia, Laird Technologies, Leadtek, Microsemi, Pericom, PMC Sierra, Renesas, Semtech, Sierra Wireless, Silicon Labs, Smarteq, SMSC and Wi2Wi at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre - the venue for embedded world Exhibition and Conference 2012 - in hall 4A booth 122 from February 28 to March 1.
We look forward to your visit!
