Avnet Chairman and CEO Roy Vallee to Ring the NYSE Closing Bell Live from the Super Bowl XLII Complex in Arizona at 4pm EST

PHOENIX, January 23, 2008 -- Avnet, Inc. (NYSE:AVT), a leading global technology distributor, announced today its Chairman and CEO Roy Vallee will join all Arizona NYSE Euronext-listed company chairmen, CEOs and senior executives live from Arizona to ring The Closing Bell(R), Friday, February 1, 2008. The Closing Bell signifies the close of trading on the NYSE, and will mark the kick-off of Arizona hosting Super Bowl XLII weekend.

The Closing Bell will ring at 2 p.m. MT / 4 p.m. ET. Roy Vallee will join NYSE Euronext Executive Vice President and Co-COO, U.S. Products Larry Leibowitz, along with chairmen, CEOs and senior executives from the 14 Arizona-based companies listed on the NYSE including Allied Waste Industries, Inc., CSK Auto Corp., Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc., Hypercom Corp., Knight Transportation, Inc., Medicis Pharmaceutical Corp., Meritage Homes Corp., Pinnacle West Capital Corp., RSC Holdings, Inc., UniSource Energy Corp., Universal Technical Institute, Inc., US Airways Group Inc., and Viad Corp. Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano, City of Glendale Mayor Elaine Scruggs, owner of the Arizona Cardinals William Bidwill, as well as Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee Chairman Mike Kennedy and Official Team Captain of the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee Spike(TM) will also participate in the ceremony.
