Luminary Micro Signs Avnet Memec as Sole UK Distributor
Luminary Micro extends its distribution agreement with Avnet Memec as Sole UK Distributor providing the Stellaris® ARM® Cortex™-M3 MCU Family.
Munich – October 15th 2007
Luminary Micro, creators of the award-winning Stellaris family of microcontrollers based on the ARM Cortex-M3 core, and Avnet Memec, the highly specialised semiconductor distributor of Avnet Electronics Marketing EMEA, announced today the extension of their European distribution agreement. Effective 1st October 2007 the established strategic partnership was extended to the UK exclusively.
"Given its line card of deeply technical franchises and demand creation, low reliance on commodities, unparalleled 1:1 ratio of field sales to field apps engineers, and genuine depth of knowledge of the ARM market and Industrial Ethernet applications, Avnet Memec was the natural choice to promote and develop Luminary Micro in the UK", said Ian Fletcher, European Sales Manager at Luminary Micro."The Stellaris family is the most extensive family of Cortex-M3 products in the industry. Luminary Micro will be a welcome addition to our UK line card," explained Stuart Edwards, Avnet Memec UK Country Manager, "providing further distinction to an already prolific line-up, based on technology offerings that enhance the integrity of our customers products, and aided from idea to design by our engineering team."Avnet Memec will be featuring the newest Stellaris mixed-signal microcontrollers and evaluation kits at the Embedded Systems Show in Birmingham. Luminary Micro’s Stellaris family now comprises over 85 MCUs, featuring:
- Real time networking with the only ARM-based fully integrated Ethernet MAC and PHY microcontrollers (Stellaris LM3S6000 series).
- Real time industrial communications with MCUs featuring up to 3 genuine Bosch CAN controllers (Stellaris LM3S2000 series).
- Industrial automation capabilities with hardware assist for IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) support (Stellaris LM3S6000 series and LM3S8000 series).
- Comprehensive motion control support in hardware, software, and with easy-to-use motion reference design kits.
- Low power battery-backed optimized MCUs with expanded general purpose I/O (Stellaris LM3S1000 series).
Two new evaluation kits available for the new Stellaris LM3S8000 and LM3S1000 series microcontrollers will be displayed at Avnet Memec's stand at the ESS, which will “have developers up and running in 10 minutes or less”.
