Maxims Hi-Speed USB (USB 2.0) DPDT Switches available at Avnet Memec

Poing, September 15th, 2008

Avnet Memec, the highly specialised semiconductor distributor of Avnet Electronics Marketing EMEA, extends its portfolio with the new MAX4983E/MAX4984E double-pole/double-throw (DPDT) analog switches from Maxim Integrated Products for multiplexing Hi-Speed USB (USB 2.0) signals at 480Mbps.

To enable the use of a single connector in high-performance switching applications, these switches feature low on-resistance (5Ω, typ) and high 950MHz bandwidth. They also provide ±15kV ESD protection (Human Body Model) to enhance robustness without latch up or damage. Fully specified to operate from a single, 2.8V to 5.5V supply voltage, these devices are protected against 5.5V shorts to COM1 and COM2. The MAX4983E/MAX4984E meet all requirements for low-speed and full-speed USB, and they are fully compliant with the USB 2.0 specification of VBUS fault protection, making them ideal for portable applications that require high-speed switching.

The MAX4983E/MAX4984E also feature low-threshold-voltage logic outputs and a shutdown mode that reduces the quiescent supply current to 0.1μA. Operating over the -40°C to +85°C extended temperature range, the MAX4983E/MAX4984E are available in 2mm x 2mm, 10-pin μDFN and tiny, 1.4mm x 1.8mm, 10-pin UTQFN packages.
