The Si86xx family of unidirectional and bidirectional isolators support up to 5 kV reinforced isolation ratings. Compared to competing digital isolators, the Si86xx family provides significant EMI and immunity performance advantages that simplify system design, reduce cost and ease EMC compliance challenges.
The Si86xx 3.75 and 5 kV digital isolators target applications requiring high levels of insulation protection. All 1- to 6-channel products support data rates up to 150 Mbps, and can be ordered with a choice of the default output state being either high or low when the input power is lost. This ordering option enables you to select the optimal failsafe operating state for your system.
The 5 kV Si86xx isolators leverage very innovative features:
- Simple, fully differential, capacitive architecture

The Si860x I2C devices are suitable for use in a wide range of applications where galvanic isolation is required. These unique I2C isolators feature two additional unidirectional isolated channels to accommodate system reset and interrupt signals. The increased integration eliminates additional isolators or optocouplers for these signals.
Key features for I2C:
- Bidirectional serial data (SDA) and serial clock (SCL) isolation
- Data rates up to 1.7 Mbps
- Open drain outputs with 35 mA sink current
- Wide 3.0 to 5.0 V logic level compatibility
- Minimal BOM: only external pull-up resistors are required
Si86xxISO-KIT Evaluaton Board
Silicon Labs showcases the new Si86xx 5 kV family with the new Si86xxISO-KIT. This kit includes several of the new isolators to simplify basic functional testing and engineering validation of various isolation product configurations. The evaluation board is populated with the following:
- Si8600AD—5 kV bidirectional I2C isolator
- ADuM2250 compatible
- Si8605AD—5 kV bidirectional I2C isolator, including:
- Two extra unidirectional channels for system control signals
- Si8621BC—3.75 kV unidirectional isolator:
- 2-channels with 1 reverse channel
- Si8655BA—1 kV unidirectional isolator:
- 5-channels (all forward) in QSOP package
- Si8663BD—5 kV unidirectional isolator:
- 6-channels with 3 reverse channels
- Si8663EC—3.75 kV unidirectional isolator:
- 6-channels with 3 reverse channels (default output = HI)
