AMCC combines high performances, low power PPC405 core with advanced peripheral set: the new 405EX, 405EXr

AMCC has announced the PPC405EX and PPC405EXr, which combine the market leading PPC405 processor with a high performances suite of peripheral and memory interfaces, including PCI Express, USB2.0 High speed On-the-Go, DDR 2/1 and Gigabit Ethernet.
The PPC405EX and PPC405EXr also incorporate an advanced security engine, featuring DES, 3DES, AES, and ARC-4 encryption, MD-5, SHA-1 and SHA-256 hashing algorithms compliant with FIPS-140-2 and ANSI X9.17 Annex C, to support the broadest range of security protocols, including IPSec, SSL, and DTLS.
Applications
Thanks to the high performances delivered at a very low power combined to the most up to date peripheral set, the PPC405EX-EXr are ideally suited for the next generation WLAN applications like PoE operated industrial and enterprise access points/routers, as well as perfect control SoC choice for network switches, telecom equipments, industrial controls, home and building multimedia networking, NAS, and more.
Development tools and PowerPC ecosystem
The PowerPC embedded processors are supported by AMCC and hundreds of partners through the PowerPC embedded tools program which includes development boards, debuggers, compilers, operating systems etc.
The AMCC PPC405EX evaluation kit will include the evaluation board, bootloader, Linux OS porting and application software at a very convenient price.
