Differentiating from Cirrus Logic’s well-known high end multi-standard, multichannel decoders, this new CS485xx family is based on the same high-performance 32-bit fixed point Digital Signal Processor core, but instead is equipped with much less memory, tailoring it for more cost-effective applications associated with multi-channel and virtual-channel sound enhancements.

The CS48520, CS48540 and CS48560 ICs provide a cost effective and simple-to-design audio post-processing solution, delivering an extensive selection of enhanced audio features to maximize the listening experience. Sporting up to 12 channels of audio I/O, onboard sample rate convertor and no need for external memory, the new CS48500 family makes very compact designs possible.

The CS48520/40/60 is programmed using the Cirrus Logic proprietary GUI software development tool called DSP Composer™. The audio processing chain can be designed using a drag and drop interface, simplifying the design process and rendering fast software tweaks. Configuration happens through the SPI™/I2C® serial port and the firmware may be loaded from the internal memory or it may be downloaded through the serial control port.
