Flagship 32-bit, 192kHz Asynchronous Sample Rate Convertor
The CS8421, a high performance 192kHz sample Rate Convertor, is a follow-up of the CS8420 convertor. With an extremely low noise floor of -140dB THD+N and high 175dB dynamic range, the CS8421 enables cost-effective and high performance designs. Adding the low latency group delay into the mix, makes this the least significant contributor to system signal degradation.
Digital audio inputs can be 16- to 32-bit, while the inputs and outputs can be completely asynchronous, synchronous to an external data clock, or the part can operate without any external clock using an integrated oscillator. The up/down sample ratio can vary from 1:8 / 7.75:1 respectively, for sample rates ranging from 8 to 211 kHz. Operational modes can be selected through hardware pins, avoiding software complications and the need for an external microcontroller.
The CS8421 also supports a TDM Mode, allowing several IC’s to be serially connected to multiplex the data into one line for multi-channel capabilities further downstream. The IC operates at a 2.5V digital rail, and can interface directly to 3.3 or 5V logic levels
