Maxim DS192x ICs provide easy Temperature and Humidity data metering and data logging
Temperature measurement: DS1921, DS1922 and DS2422
The DS1921 Thermochron® iButtons® are rugged, self-sufficient system that measures temperature and records the result in a protected memory section. The recording is done at a user-defined rate, both as a direct storage of temperature values as well as in the form of a histogram. Up to 2048 temperature values taken at equidistant intervals ranging from 1 to 255 minutes can be stored. The histogram provides 63 data bins with a resolution of 2.0°C. If the temperature leaves a user-programmable range, the DS1921G will also record when this happened, for how long the temperature stayed outside the permitted range, and if the temperature was too high or too low. An additional 512 bytes of read/write NV memory allow storing information pertaining to the object to which the DS1921G is associated. Data is transferred serially via the 1-Wire® protocol, which requires only a single data lead and a ground return; it communicates to Host with a Single Digital Signal at up to 15.4kbps at Standard Speed or up to 125kbps in Overdrive Mode. Every DS1921G is factory-lasered with a guaranteed unique electrically readable 64-bit registration number that allows for absolute traceability. The durable stainless steel package is highly resistant to environmental hazards such as dirt, moisture, and shock. Accessories permit the DS1921G to be mounted on almost any object, including containers, pallets, and bags.
The DS1922 temperature logger iButtons® are rugged, self-sufficient systems that measure temperature and record the result in a protected memory section. The recording is done at a user-defined rate. A total of 8192 8-bit readings or 4096 16-bit readings taken at equidistant intervals ranging from 1s to 273hrs can be stored. In addition to this, there are 512 bytes of SRAM for storing application-specific information and 64 bytes for calibration data. A mission to collect data can be programmed to begin immediately, or after a user-defined delay or after a temperature alarm. Access to the memory and control functions can be password protected. The DS1922L/T is configured and communicates with a host computing device through the serial 1-Wire® protocol, which requires only a single data lead and a ground return; it communicates to Host with a Single Digital Signal at up to 15.4kbps at Standard Speed or up to 125kbps in Overdrive Mode. Every DS1922L/T is factory-lasered with a guaranteed unique 64-bit registration number that allows for absolute traceability. The durable stainless-steel package is highly resistant to environmental hazards such as dirt, moisture, and shock. Accessories permit the DS1922L/T to be mounted on almost any object, including containers, pallets, and bags.
The DS2422 temperature/data logger combines the core functions of a fully featured data logger in a single chip. It includes a temperature sensor, real-time clock (RTC), memory, 1-Wire& interface, and serial interface for an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), as well as control circuitry for a charge pump. The ADC and the charge pump are peripherals that can be added to build application-specific data loggers. Without an external ADC, the DS2422 functions as a temperature logger only. It measures the temperature and/or reads the ADC at a user-defined rate. Additionally, the DS2422 can store 8192 8-bit readings or 4096 16-bit readings taken at equidistant intervals ranging from 1 second up to 273 hours. It comes in a 24pin SOIC package.
Humidity measurement: DS1923
The DS1923 temperature/humidity logger iButton® is a rugged, self-sufficient system that measures temperature and/or humidity and records the result in a protected memory section. A mission to collect data can be programmed to begin immediately, or after a userdefined delay or after a temperature alarm. Access to the memory and control functions can be passwordprotected. The DS1923 is configured and communicates with a host-computing device through the serial 1-Wire® protocol, which requires only a single data lead and a ground return. Every DS1923 is factory-lasered with a guaranteed unique 64-bit registration number that allows for absolute traceability. The durable stainless-steel package is highly resistant to environmental hazards such as dirt, moisture, and shock. Accessories permit the DS1923 to be mounted on almost any object, including containers, pallets and bags.
