The MAXQ1103 is a low-power, high performance 32-bit RISC microcontroller.
Security features include:

  • Rapid zeroization of internal data memory and keys when an attack is detected.
  • External tamper detection inputs
  • Automatic detection of out-of-range conditions including high voltage, high temperature and multiple repeated resets.
  • A wide range of cryptographic hardware engines support DES, triple DES, ECDSA, DSA, RSA, SHA and CRC calculations.

The embedded hash engine supports multiple hash functions recommended by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NITS). The true hardware random-number generator (RNG) support FIPS 182-2 with an available software library.

These advanced security features are designed to meet the stringent requirements of regulations such as ITSEC E3 High, FIPS 140-2 Level 3 and Common Criteria Certifications.

Applications are supported with 512kB of internal flash memory for code/data storage and 32kB SRAM. Up to 8MB of additional external program and data memory is supported through a dedicated word-wide memory bus with programmable wait states. A secure memory protection unit protects critical internal and external memory against tampering with triple-DES encryption.
Additional peripheral such as serial I/O, 16-bit timers, hardware math accelerator, ISO7816 UART and USB controller permits to reduce component count.

Low power operation is achieved with 1.8V Core and 3.3V I/O (5V tolerant).
Device is available in 144 pin TQFP and BGA packages.
The MAXQ1103 is ideally suited for sensitive cryptographic applications including secure modules and point-of-sale terminal.

An evaluation kit is available to speed up the design.
