MAXQ2010: Integrated Microcontroller with 12-Bit ADC,16-Bit RISC Core -Ultra-Low-Power (370nA typ)
MAXQ2010 is a newest member of MAXQ RISC microcontroller family, featuring low power and low noise. The MAXQ2010 supports up to a 160-segment LCD and supports 8 channels of high-performance measurement using a 12-bit SAR ADC with internal reference. The MAXQ2010 is structured on a highly advanced, accumulator-based, 16-bit RISC architecture.
Fetch and execution operations are completed in one cycle without pipelining because the instruction contains both the op code and data. The result is a streamlined microcontroller performing at up to one MIPS for each MHz of the system operating frequency.
Low power methodology implemented in MAXQ2010 permits to achieve a stop mode current of 370nA, this permits to increase the life of battery powered device. Device includes 4KB of utility ROM, 64KB of Flash memory for program storage, 2kB of SRAM and 16-level stack memory. Two independent USARTs as well as I2C master/slave and SPI master/slave communication ports are supported.
The device can generate its internal system clock from several sources: External clock source, internal oscillator using external crystal or resonator, FLL using 32kHz clock source (approximately 8MHz), FLL with no external crystal (approximately 5MHz).
The integrate ADC has a resolution of 12-bit with ±2LSB INL, ±1LSB DNL and 70dB SNR. Input multiplexer (configurable single ended or differential) controlled from a sequencer and 16 word sampling buffer provide the following feature: Single, sequence or continuous sample mode, interrupt on each conversion, each sequence, or every 12 or 16 samples, capability to store up to 16 samples. The high sampling rate and sampling buffer permits to increase easily the accuracy using oversampling/averaging technique without sacrifice input bandwidth. The features reported above make MAXQ2010 the ideal device for Battery-powered and portable devices, portable medical equipment, industrial control, data acquisition systems and data logger. An evaluation board MAXQ2010EVKIT is available to speed up design.
Development tools for MAXQ family microcontroller are available from IAR System (IAR Embedded Work Bench) and from Rowley Associates (CrossWorks for MAXQ).
