MAXQ610: Low Power 16-Bit Microcontroller with Infrared Module
MAXQ610 is a new member of MAXQ RISC Microcontroller family designed for low-power applications. Features as operating voltage down to 1.7V and an ultra-low power stop mode (with a quiescent current consumption of 200nA), make MAXQ610 the ideal choice for battery powered equipment. The heart of the device is the MAXQ 16-bit RISC core that operate from DC to 12MHz and execute almost all instructions in a single clock cycle. Current consumption in active mode at 12MHz is 3.75mA. Several type of memory are included: 64KB of program Flash, 2KB SRAM data memory, Stack memory and 5.25KB utility ROM, the last one consists of subroutines that can be called from application software such as: In system programming using JTAG interface, In-circuit debug routine, Test routine and User-callable routines for in-application flash programming and fast table lookup.
The optional memory protection feature separates code memory into three areas: system, user loader, and user application. Each area has an associated privilege level. RAM/ROM are assigned privilege levels also.
The dedicated IR timer/counter simplifies low speed IR communication, IR timer implements two pins (IRTX an IRRX) for supporting IR transmit and receive respectively. Two timing entity (carrier generator and carrier modulator) inside IR timer are used to define the high and low time of the carrier and to determine whether the carrier or the idle condition is present on IRTX. When configured in receive mode the IR hardware support the IRRX capture function.
The MAXQ610 provides also two 16-Bit timers/counters, two USARTS and a Master/Slave SPI. Up to 24 I/O and 32 I/O are available on MAXQ610A and MAXQ610B respectively. An internal watchdog (that resets the device if software execution is disturbed) greatly increase system reliability.
MAXQ610 is available in commercial temperature range (from 0°C to 70°C) with two package option: 32-TQFN (5mm x 5mm) for MAXQ610A and 40-TQFN (6mm x 6mm) for MAXQ610B.
An evaluation kit (MAXQ610-KIT) is available to speed up design. Development tools for MAXQ family microcontroller are available from IAR System (IAR Embedded Work Bench) and from Rowley Associates(CrossWorks for MAXQ).
