Maxim MAX11200 solves two dilemmas: This ADC family has very high accuracy and is burning only low power
This ultra-low-noise, third-order delta sigma converter family delivers 23.6 effective number of bits (ENOB) at less than 1mW power dissipation at 10sps (samples per second) and 21.7ENOB at 480sps.
The power is so low (300µA maximum), the MAX11200 meets the strict 4-20mA loop sensor power budget, which is typically 500µA or less. Integrated input buffers accept high impedance sensors such as thermocouples without degrading the performance. INL (Integral non linearity) is an industry-leading 10ppm worst case. GPIO (general purpose input/output) controls allow for external connection of a multiplexer for multi lead temperature and pressure sensing applications in order to save cost and board space needed for digital signal isolation lines. Multiple pin compatible members of the MAX11200 family are available with different resolutions for cost optimization.
