
PM4358 COMET OCTAL and PM4359 COMET TETRA E1/T1/J1 Framers + LIU now in full production
The COMET TETRA is PMC-Sierra's newest 4 Port T1/E1 Framer+LIU.
COMET TETRA is lower power, lower cost and feature enhanced with internal terminations and relayless redundancy vs COMET QUAD.
COMET TETRA reuses all of the digital logic from the COMET QUAD.
Therefore only minor modifications to existing software are required for the COMET TETRA.The COMET TETRA is the best choice for all new 4 port T1/E1 designs.
95%+ Software compatibility to COMET and COMET-QUAD allows for reuse of existing qualified software. All digital blocks for Framer reused from COMET-QUAD use the same register memory map.
Top level registers for LIU are extremely similar to COMET-QUAD. Some new registers and bits have been added to accommodate new features and feature enhancements.
Register differences are outlined in Software Migration app note (PMC-2060046) LIU Memory Tables use different values as shown in Configuration Guide (PMC-2052234).
In the case of the COMET OCTAL, the memory space is 1 bit wider to accommodate registers for 8 channels.
