The SC4624(A) operates from an input voltage range of 2.3V to 5.5V and provides a very low regulated output voltage down to 0.5V. It generates a continuous output current of up to 4A with high switching frequency of up to 2MHz that can be programmed by an external resistor or can be synchronized to an external system clock for up to 20% more than the maximum switching frequency. The SC4624 has low RDSon, increasing overall efficiency thus supporting better thermal performance. Fast transient response, high efficiency at light load, programmable soft start and powergood indicator are the key features of this device. SC4624 has two protection schemes, Hiccup mode over current protection and Over Temperature shutdown, which makes this device very robust.

4Amps of continuous output current with 2 MHz programmable switching frequency enables reaching up to 95% efficiency. This is very beneficial in power dense applications and reduces overall system cost. The device employs fixed frequency peak current-sense voltage-mode control with dynamic and transient response characteristics, while featuring cycle-by-cycle current limiting to protect against over current faults and short-circuit output faults. The voltage error amplifier provides high performance under transient conditions. The programmable soft-start and the overload shutdown timer eliminate the in-rush current, providing control of start-up, effectively protecting the device from hazardous input voltage conditions. A power good output provides for processor/logic reset without additional external circuitry. The 0.5V reference voltage is one of the lowest reference voltages in the industry (particularly with a 2.5A output capability) and enables a variable output voltage down to 0.5V, a much lower output voltage compared to competing solutions.
