Semtech Introduces the SC908 Power Management IC for Single-Cell Li-Ion Devices

Semtech’s SC908 combines a fully featured, robust and high quality 500mA battery charger with a synchronous buck converter and a low noise LDO regulator. The battery charger features "best in class" input voltage rated to 28V, and includes programmability for precharge, fast charge and termination charge currents. Also provided are an NTC interface for battery temperature monitoring and a programmable watchdog timer, both of which enable the device to provide safe stand-alone charging capability. A low battery detector with programmable threshold is also provided.

 

The 150mA synchronous buck converter features integrated FETs, auto power save, a programmable output and a separate enable, providing an efficient source of power for loads such as processors. The buck converter is powered from the Li-Ion battery. The 150mA low noise LDO features a separate input, separate enable and a programmable output, and can be used to provide power for noise sensitive circuits such as audio circuitry.
