Semtech has launched a new “power-and-go” radio frequency (RF) platform that replaces IR (infrared) and RF discrete designs with an integrated, easy-to-use, low-power, cost-effective radio solution for one-way remote keyless entry (RKE) and remote control products in consumer, home/building automation, as well as active RFID applications, such as shipment and asset tracking systems, patient monitoring systems and social alarms. The “power-and-go” RF platform makes it easy to design and replace IR and RF discrete designs, working with coin-cell battery chemistries and energy harvesters due to the ultra low power consumption.

The SX1239 is a highly integrated RF receiver operates on the 433, 868 and 915 MHz license-free ISM frequency bands. Its highly integrated architecture allows for a minimum of external components whilst maintaining maximum design flexibility. All major RF communication parameters are programmable and most of them can be dynamically set. The SX1239 offers the unique advantage of programmable narrow-band and wide-band communication modes without the need to modify external components. The SX1239 is optimized for low power consumption while offering high sensitivity and channelized operation. TrueRF™ technology enables a lowcost external component count (elimination of the SAW filter) whilst still satisfying ETSI and FCC regulations.

The SX1240 is an ultra-low-cost, fully integrated FSK or OOK compatible transmitter suitable for operation in the 418, 434 and 868 MHz licence free ISM bands. For applications where economy is paramount, the SX1240 may be used without the requirement for configuration via an MCU. The transmitter is configured for default operation at a frequency of 433.92 MHz or 868.3 MHz. However, in conjunction with a microcontroller the communication link
parameters may be re-configured. Including, output power, modulation format and operating channel. The SX1240 offers integrated radio performance with cost efficiency and is suited for worldwide operations in particular Europe (ETSI EN 300-220-1) and North America (FCC part 15.231).

The SX1242 is an ultra-low-cost, fully integrated standalone OOK transmitter suitable for operation at 344.940 MHz. The SX1242 offers integrated radio performance with cost efficiency and is suited for operation in North America (FCC part 15.231).
