POWERFUL DUOCORE APPLICATION PROCESSING - Wavecom’s Q26 Extreme Wireless CPU® is a powerful central processing unit with an ARM9 32 bit application processor.
GLOBAL WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY WITH HSDPA & HSUPA - With quad-band (850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz) GSM/GPRS/EDGE operation and tri-band* (850, 1900, 2100MHz) WCDMA/HSDPA/HSUPA operation, there’s almost no network in the world that Q26 Extreme cannot connect to.
RECEIVE DIVERSITY - Twin antenna operation provides higher through put due to radio fading affects.
inSIM® - Industrial grade, integrated SIM with subscription choice flexibility, to withstand harsh environments and save cost in logistics, additional switching components, warranty and certification.
OPEN AT® OS - The real-time Open AT® OS allows developers to natively execute their program with minimum processor resource overhead and minimum memory footprint or run Lua scripts.
OPEN AT® IDE - The world’s most powerful cellular embedded development environment enables developers to code in C and/or Lua, compile, download, and debug wireless applications that are run directly on the Wireless Microprocessor. Watch out for IDE 2.0 next month which breaks the boundaries in ease-of-use with a brand new all-in-one approach.
OPEN AT® PLUG-INS - The Plug-In architecture of Open AT® Software allows developers to write their own Plug-Ins or take advantage of the off the-shelf range from Wavecom.
WINDOWS CE & WINDOWS MOBILE - Drivers for the Windows CE and derivative Windows Mobile platforms are available to connect the Q26 Extreme to a host system.
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES - Choose from a range of services that accelerate your product design, ensuring you capitalize on market opportunities.
INTELLIGENT DEVICE SERVICES - Sleep soundly at night in the knowledge that you can monitor your network of installed products, remotely fix them and even add new value for your customers.
* The first version of Q26 Extreme will support these bands whilst additional releases will extend the band coverage.
Q26 Extreme is the second HSPA product offering from Wavecom following on from the Fastrack Extreme that was covered in Issue 19 of the Innovator. Q26 Extreme is the embedded version supporting not only HSDPA but also HSUPA so developers can now create innovative products that send and receive data at high speeds (7.2Mbps HSDPA and 2Mbps HSUPA) on a packet based cellular IP network.
Q26 Extreme compounds the reasons to develop on the Q26 platform as it is the part of the Wavecom portfolio where multi-air-interface standards are delivered in a compatible form-factor. Designing on Q2686 today, moving to EDGE with the Q2687 tomorrow and then using the Q26 Extreme for HSPA has never been so smooth. And for those developers looking for non-GSM family compatibility, the new Q26 Elite, supporting CDMA 2000 1x 3G technology will also be available, again, in a form-factor compatible device.
In combination with Wavecom's Open AT® software suite Q26 Extreme provides attractive total cost of ownership for industrial wireless machines such as alarm systems with video streaming, entertainment consoles, multi-media kiosks and even fleet management systems requiring parallel use of voice and data, by reducing the overall number of components and shortening time-to-market. Using Open AT® software, developers can easily create machine-to-machine applications in C-language, or Lua scripts or a combination of the two. It is then possible to maintain these embedded applications remotely, over-the-air, throughout their lifetime. That allows businesses to develop new services and deploy them to their customer base or even take a competitive lead by launching software earlier, knowing that they can remotely upgrade it as and when issues are identified, shortening the time-to-market.
