New C8051F336 Small Form Factor MCU Family

Silicon Laboratories continues to redefine the 8-bit mixed-signal MCU market with the introduction of the C8051F336 family of small form factor microcontrollers. The addition of this family brings the total to more than 70 unique part numbers in the Silicon Labs small form factor (SFF) portfolio. C8051F336 is pin-compatible with the popular C8051F33x family of devices, yet offers twice the Flash at 16 kB of code memory in the same small
4x4 mm package. This offers customers a path to upgrade product performance and end-product cost-reduction through re-use of hardware designs. Code migration is also easy between these platforms.
In addition to the added Flash memory and byte-programmable EPROM, the C8051F336 offers some feature enhancements over the C8051F330 such as an added low-power suspend mode with fast wake times, added RTC capability and added PWM resolution options in the programmable counter array. The SMBus/I2C is also upgraded with additional address recognition and acknowledgment. These additional features add to the low power capability.
Applications
The C8051F336 family has a broad appeal with a diverse set of applications. These applications can be found in markets where a high number of features and better reliability are in demand at a lower cost and smaller size. Examples include industrial sensing and control (including motion control), consumer products (human interface, handheld products real-time interaction) and communications equipment (including optical). The C8051F336family excels at capturing information accurately, processing it and then communicating information to the system or directly controlling the system. Example applications include motor control, XFP/SFP optical transceivers, touch panels, LED displays and consumer products control. The application space will co-exist with that of our popular C8051F33x family of devices with compatible options that allow different feature levels within the same product line.
