Silicon Labs Si84xx ISOpro Digital Isolators
Recent breakthroughs in silicon isolation technology have spawned smaller, faster and more reliable solutions than those provided by optocouplers. The Silicon Labs ISOpro family is the most advanced solution, offering best-in-class timing performance, lower electromagnetic interference (EMI), lower power consumption and lower cost.
The Si84xx ISOpro product family beats optocouplers by providing more channels per device and superior performance, including:
- >2x lower propagation delays>
- 5x lower power consumption
- Wider operating temperature ranges
- None of the time dependent performance degradation or aging characteristics of optos
- Elimination of external components

Si84xx ISOpro Ultra Low-power Digital Isolators Additional Benefits
The Si84xx ISOpro ultra low-power digital isolators target products that require electrical isolation to provide human and equipment safety, level shifting and/or ground-loop elimination. They are packed with the latest technological innovations to enable higher performance, greater efficiency and enhanced reliability across a broad 2.5 and 5 kV-rated isolation portfolio. They have the widest channel count, highest data rate, lowest power and highest ESD immunity.
The family’s superior RF coupler architecture also outperforms other CMOS-based isolators by providing:
- High tolerance to noise pulses
- 2x lower jitter
- More precise overall timing characteristics
- Higher channel counts
- More highly integrated solutions for I2C, PMBus, and SMBus
Also available are Si840x I2C compatible isolators with bi-directional isolated channels on both the serial data (SDA) and serial clock (SCL) lines. Additional unidirectional isolated data channels for accommodating reset and interrupt signals on the Si8405 further simplify the end-user BOM while reducing cost and complexity in I2C applications. In addition, there is a 16-pin narrow-body SOIC option has been added with a 50% smaller PCB footprint.
