Silicon Labs Si535x: Any Frequency 8-Output Clock Generator + VCXO Address Cost Sensitive Applications

The new Si5350/51 any frequency, 8-output CMOS Clock Generator + VCXO from Silicon Labs target cost-sensitive consumer, enterprise and communications applications. They are the industry’s most frequency flexible, lowest power and lowest jitter programmable clocks. The devices can synthesize any combination of eight unique, non-integer related frequencies up to 133 MHz with 0 ppm frequency error. This provides 100% greater frequency flexibility than competing solutions.
The Si5350/51 simultaneously generate free-running and synchronous clocks, making them ideal for replacing multiple clock ICs, XOs and VCXOs with a single device. Through a flexible web configuration utility called ClockBuilder™, factory-customized clocks are available with 2-week lead times. By providing made-to-order, frequency flexible clock generators with short lead times, you can leverage the benefits of a custom clock solution. This includes lower BOM cost and complexity, simplified design and faster time to market.
ClockBuilderTM Web-Based Part Number Utility
ClockBuilder enables mass customization of clock generators and allows the use of a broad range of application-specific clocks that minimize BOM costs while significantly reducing design and layout complexity. Custom versions of the Si5350 are made to order by programming the frequency plan into non-volatile memory at outgoing test. This eliminates the need for metal mask changes required by traditional clock ICs.

A Great Fit with Other Silicon Labs Products
The Si5350/51 targets high-volume, cost-sensitive applications. For enterprise and communications applications, the Si5350 can be combined with Silicon Labs Si533x any-frequency quad differential clock generators and Si5xx XO/VCXOs. Cost-sensitive applications will likely only need the Si5350/51 reference clock, great news for BOM-sensitive designs. You can also use the Si5350 with high performance systems that may use ProSLICs (telecom CPE), video products (HDTV) and consumer audio products (A/V equipment).
Timing ToolStick Demonstration
The Timing ToolStick is a sales demo tool that can be used to highlight the frequency flexibility of the Si5350/51. First download and install the software from www.silabs.com then enter any 3 frequencies and the ToolStick saves the configuration to an on-board flash MCU. The ToolStick can then be used by a customer for bench evaluation.
