
Zilog introduces the ZA9L series: An ARM9 based Application Specific Processor family for Security Applications
With these application specific processors, Zilog not only introduces a hardware platform that provides the lowest cost Bill-of-Material in a single chip solution, but also a complete software and development environment. As pioneers of the processor industry, Zilog have always provided qualitative and complete development environments, giving engineers a single point of contact during those crucial stages of design.
As first member in the family, the ZA9L0 has all the peripherals necessary to ward of physical (gain access to the circuitry) and environmental (tampering with power, temperature, frequency etc), as well as outright fraud (interception and/or swapping of data) attacks. The device is PCI PED (PayCard Industry, Pin Entry Device) and EMV (EuroCard, MasterCard, VISA) pre-certified, making the qualification process much smoother.
